 If there are a number of ranch stores in your area, consider exploring a niche market. Perhaps you could just carry alpaca and alpaca blend yarns along with knitting patterns and supplies. Perhaps you might concentrate on organic alpaca products. Perhaps you might just carry toys. If you do that, consider putting a little cooperative together with the other nearby ranch stores. Provide customers with a handout describing what each ranch store specializes in, and that also contains a map, contact information, and store hours for each ranch. You could combine that with basic information about alpacas and alpaca fiber, and have a really nice handout for which several ranches could share the expenses and the profits.
